i know actionscript 2(cs4) and want to learn actionscript 3(cs4) for my project which will be a shooting game

i'm making a shooting game and want to know if this book is really helpfull and in the book does it teach you how to combine actionscript and mysql, the game will not be web-based its for a normal desktop
